What is call to action?

Call to action or CTA are functions in the process of navigation that stimulate the user to perform certain actions. In the format of links or forms, CTAs vary from page to page, but they have the same purpose: convincing the user to do what you want.

In e-commerce sites, the idea is that the consumer buys a product. In a news portal, the intention is that the user registers him or her to receive a newsletter by email. In a blog, the intention is that the user participates by leaving a comment.

Usability is the word to have in mind when designing a CTA. What does the user want? How do people reach your site? Only after answering these questions will it be possible to offer what whomever is on the other side is really looking for.
