What is crowdfunding?
Crowdfunding is a collective funding with the goal of raising resources for initiatives or projects of general interest. The idea is that several people contribute collaboratively with small amounts, in order to make a business come true.
The term is used to describe actions on the Internet with the aim of raising money for artists, startups and even political campaigns and philanthropy. In Brazil, the crowdfunding movement was responsible for raising funds for regions affected by floods in Santa Catarina (2008), the Northeast (2010) and Rio de Janeiro (2011).
