What is pay wall?

Pay wall is a subscription system used by newspapers and other vehicles of digital communication that allows an Internet user to access restricted content.

Before the fall of the circulation of printed items, newspapers started adopting the pay wall in their electronic editions, looking to raise their revenue. The first newspaper to apply the pay wall in a comprehensively and integrated way was the American “The New York Times”, charging for three different access levels, according to the content of each architecture.
